James Jordan blasts same-sex couples on Strictly Come Dancing: 'It's wrong'

Axed Strictly Come Dancing professional James Jordan has blasted calls for same-sex couples on the show.

The dancer – who was axed from the show in 2014 – has said he thinks it’s ‘wrong’ for same-sex couples to feature on the top-rated BBC show despite calls for the show to feature them.

“It’s wrong. I think they would lose so many viewers,” he told the Sun.

Adding that he has ‘nothing against same-sex couples’ because he has ‘lots of gay friends’, he said: “If they want to, go and do their own competitions, but ballroom dancing is about a man dancing with a woman – that’s fact.”

Craig Revel Horwood has called for same-sex couples on Strictly

“It annoys me that people like Craig can say this because he’s gay. That’s the only reason he’s pushing it.”

The 37-year-old star – who is married to Strictly professional Ola Jordan – added that it would be impossible for Craig, Darcey Bussell, Bruno Toinioli and head judge Len Goodman to score a same-sex performance.

He told The Sun newspaper: “I don’t think it would go down well. You can’t compare a man and a woman dancing with each other to two men dancing with each other, it’s stupid.

“The world is going crazy with this gender stuff at the moment.”

Dancing couples like this shouldn’t be allowed on Strictly, says James Jordan

However, despite his comments the Celebrity Big Brother star thinks it would be great to see a transgender celebrity take part.

James added: “I don’t mind if Bruce Jenner comes on the show as a woman and dances with a man. But not as a man. Because he is now Caitlyn.”

Mirror TV has contacted spokespeople for BBC and James Jordan for comment.
