Spice Girls star Mel B was held hostage in the days before the X Factor final, it was claimed last night.
Husband Stephen Belafonte is set to face police questioning over the alleged incident when he returns home from Los Angeles, according to reports.
The 39-year-old film producer allegedly refused to let the X Factor judge leave their home in London the day before Mel B was rushed to hospital.
Writing on Twitter in response to the story in The Sun newspaper, Mel, 40, said: “Pls don’t believe what you read it’s all lies lies lies as usual.”
Belafonte has previously denied speculation he hit the Spice Girl, saying: “I love my wife. I’d take a bullet for her.”
Mel B, who shares three-year-old daughter Madison with Belafonte, missed the previous night’s show after being rushed to hospital.
The Metropolitan Police said: “Police in Kensington and Chelsea borough are investigating an allegation of false imprisonment.
“The allegation was reported on Monday 15 December. We are not prepared to comment further.”
Stephen was last seen in London on December 14. The complaint was made to police the following day.
The couple live at a £4million home in Kensington.
The news comes after Mel was forced to pull out of one of the X Factor final shows after being rushed into hospital – but she made it back for the Sunday finale.
However, fans were quick to spot Mel was covered in what looked like bruises, and she appeared unwell throughout.
She recently denied claims Stephen had ever hit her, writing on Instagram: “This is for my fans havin problems with my Twitter will be back soon
But Belafonte has been hit by a new report that he held her captive on December 10 – four days before she appeared on the show without her wedding ring and with what appeared to be bruising on her face.
