They say “you can’t please everyone all the time,” but creators continue to champion the direction of the hit show which has been a ratings revival for the FOX Network. While Empire Ratings Plummet After “Gay” Kiss Scene some say the bump in ‘success’ is somewhere between ‘the eye of the beholder’ and ‘a change ‘gon come.’
Reports IFWT:
Test audiences* apparently had adverse responses leading into the Empire Ratings Plummet After “Gay” Kiss Scene from the intimate exchange of characters Lucious’ (Terrence Howard) and Cookie’s (Taraji P. Henson) son Jamal and his boyfriend:
“Washington Post reporter Cecilia Kang spoke with the show’s co-creator, Danny Strong, who admitted to her that the initial response to the show’s gay couple making out on cam was anything but positive, and in fact was a huge turnoff for the show’s predominantly African-American audience.”
Though the Empire Ratings Plummet After “Gay” Kiss Scene is a reality, audiences should not expect this to slow the engine of the show’s now runaway train, especially since aiming at critical issues within the LGBTQ and black communities was always in the plans.
“Kang also revealed that the show’s creators don’t regret leaving the scene in the show, as they aim to ‘push buttons’ and deal with ‘real issues, rich topics that really resonate.;”
Executive Director Lee Daniels is not marred in any way by Empire Ratings Plummet After “Gay” Kiss Scene, he had already expressed this plot line and approach is close to his heart and would not take such scenes out “just because people are uncomfortable.”
