They first shared a mild flirtation almost a year ago but, apart from a brief kiss, never acted upon their feelings.
However EastEnders’ Sonia Fowler and Tina Carter will finally give in and share a passionate kiss in the March 17 episode of the BBC One soap.
The pair, played by Natalie Cassidy, 31, and Luisa Bradshaw-White, 38, have been leaning on each other in recent times as they both dealt with family drama and insiders believe the kiss could lead to a ‘meaningful’ relationship.
A source told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: ‘They finally give in to the tension that has been building and kiss.
‘There has been a spark for a while but it hasn’t amounted to anything. This could be the start of something meaningful.’
And fans will be thrilled with the potential relationship as Luisa who previously revealed viewers of the soap want them to get together.
Last year Tina shared a kiss with Sonia even though she was dating firefighter Tosh (Rebecca Scroggs).
Luisa told Inside Soap magazine at the time that was surprised by the overwhelmingly positive reaction to the illicit lip-lock.
‘People like the idea of Tina and Sonia, but there is some good stuff between Tina and Tosh when things are going well for them,’ Bradshaw-White said.
‘When it’s all going right, you can see they’ve got something really good.’
Luisa also revealed she found it difficult to develop her on-screen chemistry with Rebecca as their characters dated for a long time before arriving on the soap.
She explained: ‘It took a while for Rebecca and I to get Tosh and Tina’s relationship right, because they have been together and were already in love when Tosh arrived. We’ve not actually seen them falling in love on-screen.’
In comparison, Luisa found her scenes with Natalie much easier because their characters had only just met.
