Jamie Dornan could pocket as much as £4.5million for the upcoming Fifty Shades of Grey sequel, according to reports.
The actor was rumoured to have quit the films with claims his wife felt uncomfortable with some of the more explicit scenes, but these have since been slammed as sources confirm he’s set to return.
Now, according to the Daily Star, the heartthrob was previously paid £80,000 for the first film, but producers were keen to keep him for the following two as well.
A source reportedly told the newspaper: “Jamie has signed the deal and he’s thrilled, the money on offer was just too good.
“He’s been really worried that he will get typecast as Christian Grey and it will do his long-term career ambitions damage.
“So he was about to walk away and leave it all behind then bosses of the movie franchise came back with the jaw-dropping offer.”
They went on to slam rumours Jamie’s wife Amelia didn’t like his role, claiming it was in fact the actor himself who felt uneasy with her watching.
An insider previously claimed that the rumours have come from the time when, in a bid to ensure E. L. James – the writer of the novel on which the film is based – “loosens her grip”, Jamie hinted he may exit if director Sam Taylor-Johnson was to go.
The source added to The Sunday Times newspaper: “Jamie has made it known that doubts could be in place if Taylor-Johnson exits, but it’s
just a ploy designed to put pressure on James and push her to loosen her grip.
“The truth is that Jamie plans to do all three and very much with the backing of his family.”
