While it’s great to have our fave TOWIE characters causing drama on our TVs, we can reveal that there has also been some dispute behind the scenes – over money, again.
It’s no secret that the cast are paid only about £100 a day for filming the award-winning ITVBe show but now some are kicking off over not getting enough to promote an official TOWIE perfume, due for release this spring.
We hear show bosses have had to postpone a photoshoot for the fragrance as the cast who’ve been asked to pose up for pics are not happy with the rumoured £1,500 fee. They can get more than that for a one-hour nightclub appearance.
We also hear that the selected Essex regulars – including Mario Falcone, Ferne McCann, Elliott Wright, Georgia Kousoulou and Tommy Mallet – are not being offered royalties from the sale of the fragrance.
It comes after production company Lime Pictures has released a range of successful branded TOWIE products, including calendars and CDs.
An insider tells us: “The latest release is said to have caused some fallout, with some of the show’s stars not happy to support the venture.
“A decision could not be reached on how to move forward in a fair manner for all so the shoot has been postponed while the commercial team attempt to fix the problem.
“While the cast know where their bread is buttered, they want to do what makes most financial sense for them. They’re already on minimal amounts of money for starring in a hit show, it is well documented that there have been fallouts over pay.”
