Tourists on safari dream of seeing majestic wild beasts right in front of their eyes.

But this family were given a fright when a huge lion got a bit too close.

The car passengers in the footage can be heard screaming in terror as the beast prises open the door of their vehicle – with its teeth.

It happened when they approached a pride of lions on safari in South Africa.

As one of the lions wanders over to the car, the family can be heard taking pictures of the enormous beast and laughing as it pushes its face against the window.

But the family’s laughter soon turned to screams of terror when, just seconds later, the lion manages to prise open the unlocked car door with its teeth.

Thankfully, one quick thinking family member grabs hold of the door and slams it shut, before locking it from the inside.

A female voice can be heard saying: “Oh my gosh, I didn’t know they could do that.”
